Sunday Morning Sitting Group

Each group includes 45 minutes of sitting and 45 minutes of conversation in which we share, in a context of spiritual friendship, our own exploration of truth and freedom in our lives. Not a teacher-led group. Please arrive on time and leave promptly as a courtesy to the group and to the host. The group usually meets on Sundays 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Robin Kassis’s home in North Amherst—but not always, if she is away. If you are interested in attending, please contact Robin beforehand to be certain of the venue and to ask if there is currently space in the group. She can be reached at r2b2nkass@gmail.com

Moving Toward the Light: A Meditation Retreat for the New Year

January 7, 7-9 pm; January 8, 9 am-5 pm; January 10, 9-noon

Online through Zoom

Registration $50 plus dana (donation for the teaching)

The quiet time after the holiday bustle and the beginning of the New Year is an excellent time to take time out to be in silence, rest in our being, connect with our depths, and be in the company of others doing the same. Out of this simple moment-to-moment presence with things as they are, we more easily move toward the light of truth, kindness, and skillful action, however those need to appear at this time in our lives.

The venue will be the same as we have done in the past, the Hitchcock Center in South Amherst, a lovely, environmentally friendly facility with good light and access to nature. The registration fee for the event is $50. If you would like to register, you can access the registration form here. On the registration form you may select a method of payment. Receipt of payment will guarantee you a spot in this retreat, which has filled up in the past. You may receive a full refund if you cancel by December 20. Scholarships are also available if the fee presents a financial hardship. Just ask me if you need that.

In order to create a relatively safe environment for the retreat, everyone attending will have to be vaccinated, have had a negative COVID test within three days prior to the event, and show proof of that at the door. Wearing masks will be optional. Booster shots are encouraged (at least two weeks ahead).

Mark Hart is the guiding teacher for the Bodhisara Dharma Community and a psychotherapist in private practice in Amherst.
